What Will I Blog About?

Now that the holidays are over a week passed, it’s time for me to get serious about this “JohnChow” experiment that I started on Christmas. It’s not a new year resolution, it’s a challenge to myself to see if I can make a successful blog the way John Chow, and many other bloggers are doing. When I first came up with this idea, I thought it was “BRILLIANT!” If they can do it, I can do it!

Well, now that I have everything set up and ready to go, suddenly, I don’t feel so “brilliant”. My original idea was to blog about interesting sites and info I come across everyday on the internet. Wow, what a breakthrough idea! Breakthrough, not because it’s a topic that I would care to write about nor people would care to read about, BUT because it’s made me suddenly aware that my daily internet travels are just full of distractions! I hardly found any substance interesting enough to share with anyone. So then, I checked out Google Trends, just to see what substance the rest of the world find on the internet, wow, are those top 10 hot searches random! Makes me a little happy, and also a little disturbed, to find that the world is so much more distracted than I am! No wonder there’re so much unsolved dilemmas in the world because majority of the people are trying to figure out what bible passage will Tim Tebow be painting on his face next. It’s fine, I’m not trying to solve any world dilemma here, the only unsolved mystery I’m pursuing right now is “What will I blog about?”

John Chow was right that bloggers should be blogging about what they’re passionate about, or else writing a blog feels like walking toes-in-sand on the beach, pushing a shopping cart full of bargained items, while trying to eat succulent pulled pork empanada. All those things are awesome to do, individually, but to talk about it, with passion, and roll them all into a blog…well, it just doesn’t go anywhere. So I’m left with just sitting down on the beach, next to my cart, eating my yummi empanada, and not a word on my blog. After a bit of relaxation, the warm sun, ocean breeze, and chitchatting with passersby completely distracted me from trying to figure out what to blog about, a truly brilliant idea sparked during my intriguing chat with a complete stranger. I’m passionate about people! Talking to them, learning about who they are, finding out their interests, and figuring out what makes them tick. So this is it, I will be experimenting with this idea to blog about complete strangers, their ideas, and thoughts that I come across on a daily basis on my daily walks, or through twitter, or random grocery store trips. Let me know what you think, I’m REALLY interested, and I hope you will be too!

My Own John Chow Experiment

Hello World! My name’s Annette, people call me Net for short, hence NetFootprints.com. Not a day goes by that I don’t use the internet, and, on most days, I’m on the internet to spend money since I’m a total bargain nut! But something happened to me today that will change the course of my internet travel from this point on. I accidentally came across JohnChow.com blog where John Chow talks about how he makes $40k a month with his blog, and he gives two free, real step by step ebooks on how anyone can do what he does. I love bargains, but I LOVE free stuff even more, so I downloaded them, not expecting anything. After skimming through both books, I’ve decided that instead of using the internet to spend my money, why not use it to make money! With instructions from John Chow, I am starting my own JohnChow experiment to see if anyone can really do what he does.

My plan is to follow John Chow’s instructions as much as possible with this blog that I’m deciding to start. I’m making NetFootprints.com about everything and anything I come across on the internet on a daily basis. Everyday, I stumble upon websites that provide me with the information that I need or the entertainment that I want. So here is where I will bring you the sites that I find interesting enough to talk about. I hope you will enjoy my blog and follow my progress in my own JohnChow experiment!

Bill Maher: #7 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/28/11)

I’m so going to enjoy writing this post! So on December 24, Bill Maher tweeted, “Wow, Jesus just f—– #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler ‘Hey, Buffalo’s killing them”. Well, anyone that Bill Maher makes fun of, I must find out who he is! (yeah, right! haha) I admit I find Bill Maher completely hilarious, and whoever he picks on is hardly a victim.

In this case, Tim Tebow is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Their lost on Christmas Eve game is what triggered Maher’s tweet, simply because Tebow is known to be very very strong in his Christian beliefs and is not afraid to announce it to the world. This is not the first time he’s been made fun of either, even Saturday Night Live did a skit about him, hilarious! watch…

However, this matter was not taken lightly by the conservatives who just woke up from their Christmas daze and belch their last left over burbs. They are now calling for HBO to boycott Bill Maher and his show. Surprisingly, FOX station is coming out to tell their viewers to put their shotguns back into the safe as FOX commentator Andy Levy put it, “Bill Maher tweeted this for one reason and one reason only: to get a rise out of people. Why give him the satisfaction? He’s a comedian. People need to stop being outraged by what comedians say. Part of their job is to say things that are outrageous. He’s not a politician, he’s not running for office, he’s got a show on HBO and he’s a comedian — who cares?” Wow, a conservative who can take a joke! (kinda)

What about you? I think this was not Bill Maher’s funniest, but who can be funny all the time. So, forgiven, I think. What do you think?

Strait of Hormuz: #6 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/28/11)

Well, Iran is at it again. In response to possibilities of new international sanctions being imposed upon Iran due to its pursuit of a nuclear program, its top officials are threatening to close the Persian Gulf to oil tanker traffic. The Strait of Hormuz is the only sea passage that gives the Persian Gulf access to the open ocean to transport 13 tankers carrying 15.5 million barrels of crude oil per day, and Iran is on the north coast of this ever so important strait. They claim that “Closing the Strait of Hormuz…will be easier than drinking a glass of water.”

But fear not, people, this is not the first time Iran has ever spat this type of b.s., especially when it comes to the strait. U.S. Fifth fleet issued a statement that “any disruption will not be tolerated.” But this does not mean war, guys! It’s just a bunch of threats back and forth, which, of course, is not helping the stability issues in that region, so we must definitely keep our eyes and ears opened to this issue.

Do you think this search will surpass Rachel Uchitel by the end of the day?

Mars Needs Moms: #5 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/28/11)

This is the second day that this Disney animated film featuring voices of Seth Green (why?) and Joan Cusack (why? why?) is holding its #5 spot in the top 10 Hot Searches. According to Imdb (I watched Moneyball instead of this one), the film is about “A young boy named Milo, who gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians come to Earth to take her away.” It was released back in March 2011, so why the sudden interests? Most likely because it was named the biggest flop of 2011, since it cost Disney an estimated $150million, but only earned $39million worldwide (Do we really need to ask another why?). I think this is the reason why it’s being looked up so much on the internet. Do you think it’s by people who liked the movie or people who hated it? I mean, on $39million worldwide, who actually saw it though?

Andrew Bailey: #4 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/28/11)

Good thing I watched Brad Pitt in Moneyball so now I can appreciate how significant this is that Andrew Bailey, the closer for the Oakland A’s, was traded to the Boston Red Sox. And what a coincidence that the movie Moneyball was about the Oakland A’s too, which made me be able to relate even more! (haha) Supposedly, this is part of the Red Sox major efforts toward revamping their pitching staff.

Did you know that Jonathan Papelbon was actually the Red Sox closer for a long time before he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies for four years and $50Million during the offseason? Who needs Mega Millions when you’re a baseball player? Cha-ching!

Pro Bowl Roster: #2 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/28/11)

So it’s that time of the year that the NFL season is wrapping itself up with the Pro Bowl, which will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 29, 2012. The roster was announced today, hence the excitement that made Pro Bowl Roster #2 on top 10 hot searches today.

Tom Brady of the New England Patriots will lead the AFC line up, along with Ravens RB Ray Rice and FB Vonta Leach, Gronkowski, Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey, Mankins and Waters at guard, Browns tackles Joe Thomas and Dolphins tackle Jake Long, Welker and Steelers WR Mike Wallace.

While NFC will have Green Bay’s Rodgers as its starting QB, along with Eagles RB LeSean McCoy, Packers FB John Kuhn, Graham, Panthers C Ryan Kalil, Saints guards Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks, Eagles tackle Jason Peters and Staley, Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and Lions WR Calvin Johnson on offense.

The New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers tied for having the most players chosen from their rosters with 8 players from each, followed by Green Bay and Baltimore with 7 players each.

I probably should list the roster for defense, but that’s about enough football talk for me today. Anyone care to take care of the rest of the discussions? Who will win? Strategy Analysis? Who are the rookies? Who will watch? etc, etc.

Mega Millions: #1 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/28/11)

With a $206Million Jackpot, of course the Mega Millions is gonna top the list today. Everyone wants to know who won! Well, it’s still a mystery, but we do know that the single winning ticket was sold at a Long Island grocery store called King Kullen. The estimated take home cash lump sum could be around $151.9Million after taxes. Do you know who the lucky winner is? I wonder if this winning would change the dynamic of their personal relationships.

What do you think? If you know the person, would you ever hit them up for a loan?

Mega Millions: #2 Top 10 Hot Searches (12/27/11)

Even with a $206Million Jackpot, the Mega Millions Lottery still came in second in Top 10 Hot Searches behind Sonny Rollins. That’s saying something about the guy, right? Well, now lets say something about the moola! According to the Mega Millions official website, there is ONE WINNER to the $206Million JACKPOT from New York! The winning numbers were 23,32,33,39,43 with Mega Ball number 8. Those are so my numbers! Well, I’ll definitely be following to see who the lucky winner is that chose my numbers and what they will do with the money! If I win that much money, I would use it to help house as many homeless people as possible. What would you do with the money?
